Yesterday I went to twitch an Eastern Yellow Wagtail,a very rare bird for our part of the world. While I was there, I found some very nice insects to photograph as well!

First up is a sheoak moth caterpillar that I saw a while ago at Brimbank Park and forgot to add to the list.
Next is a Dictyotus conspicuus that I saw in Gisbourne.
Finally, for this update, an orange assassin bug seen at Riddells Creek.

#188 to #192 batch update
I post my insect photos on either BowerBird and Natureshare, and often some wonderful people can identify species that I haven't been able to on my own. And sometimes as I browse through these citizen science pages, I often see something that I recognise and get an identification this way. This is the case for the next addition, a simple fly that I had photographed and not paid much attention to when I was at Yea recently.
The next photo was photograhed when I was in Seymour recently, and identified via Natureshare.
The rest of the addition for this post were photographed at the Williamstown Botanic Gardens last weekend.

#161 to #164 at Heritage Wetlands, Wonga Park, Victoria, Australia, November 17 2018
A few years ago I went to Heritage Wetlands to try and find and photograph an Azure Kingfisher. I dipped on the kingfisher, but found a large and diverse collection of insects to photograph instead. I've been meaning to head back there for ages, and this morning I finally did. While I didn't find it crawling with insects like I had hoped to, I still managed to find some interesting photographic subjects.

#155 to #159 batch update
It's been a while since I updates the list, so here it goes...
On 29 September I went to Mangalore Flora and Fauna Reserve where the only insect I saw was a few of these moths.
At Woodlands Historic Park on October 3rd I found an acacia leaf beetle.
last night (19/10), at home, I found a Chlenias banksiaria caterpillar, a regular seasonal occupant of our front yard.
I also found a few moths out and about...

#154 in my front yard, September 28 2018
We are lucky enough to get a good population of these beautiful Chlenias auctaria caterpillars every year around home. I first noticed that they had returned a few weeks ago, so I've been waiting for them to get plump enough to photograph. Today I decided that the time was right!
